Asonides Boss Card [Doodle Deities]

Artwork Illustration done for the Doodle Deities game with Golden Calf Studio. Asonides was described as a boss card coupled with character unique cards based off of the great hydra in Ancient Greek mythology. Concept and illustration by Babette Norton. Board and other illustrations by Golden Calf Studio.

Final cut illustration for the Greek Art Card. Asonides was described to be a hydra-inspired boss dragon. I took inspiration from the hydra of Heracles' tasks as well as medusa's snakes.

Original design for the hydra was a front-view shot of the hydra's necks and head. The dragon was intended to look more coiled in a "Rat-King" manner, so this format was used for a hydra head-specific card in later iterations.

Original roughs of the hydra Asonides. In 1st draft, there was to be a sword embedded in the skull of the beast to showcase having fought heroes before. Greyscale and lines to ensure that the card was balanced and readable.
