[UNANNOUNCED PROJECT] Assistant Concepts

Concept exploration for The Assistant, an NPC character that serves as a tutorial and general worldbuilder within an unannounced project. The Assistant worked as a boxer's coach, but also required metalworking tools to "fix" injuries caused by metal brass knuckle implants.
Aiming for a Dieselpunk aesthetic, the original concept was pushed further to include larger tools, more industrial/boiler suit styled gear, and heavier textures. Both risograph and traditional cel shading styles were explored.

Final artwork to be used in BETA versions of the project. Risograph style painting was used to give it an authentic look with errors and paper textures.

Revamp of the character at the required bust view. We needed to make the character more like a dieselpunk engineer, highlighting world war-style mechanic outfits and heavy and visible machinery. The logo still needed to be easily readable and noticed.

A demonstration of the piece in game (with a stand-in concept background). Later on, textures were further tweaked.

Original concepts proposed of the assistant. Traditional coach, Redneck mechanic, and businessman inspirations from left to right.

The left was selected to continue to adapt. At this point the assistant was named Charles as a stand in.

Colour and logo exploration for Charles. The assistant was good in concept but appeared to be too much of a present day boxing assistant; the tools were not visible enough and the lack of clear engineering or heavy-duty qualities did not mesh.
